米7月雇用統計の弱い結果を受けて156.60円台へ急落したものの、その後は買い戻しが優勢となった。もっとも、9月FOMCでの利上げ織り込みが低下したことで、ドルの買い戻しも限定的となり、158円台に乗せるには至らなかった

According to overnight index swaps (OIS), market pricing for a Federal Reserve rate hike in September has fallen from around 60% before the employment report to the mid-40% range. However, the market will have several key data points to assess before the September FOMC meeting, including the U.S. July Consumer Price Index (CPI) due on the 12th, as well as the August employment report and August CPI. As a result, a sustained, one-sided move toward U.S. dollar selling is unlikely.
Meanwhile, optimism over the outlook for the situation in Iran has faded after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that direct negotiations with the United States are currently not possible. If NYMEX WTI crude oil futures remain elevated, this would also make it difficult for investors to aggressively buy the yen, given the potential impact of higher energy prices on Japan's terms of trade.
With no major U.S. economic indicators scheduled for release today, dollar/yen is likely to remain directionless, with trading expected to center around the upper 157 to lower 158 range.
