ロンドン市場で1円あまり、NY市場で5円近く急落し5月中旬以来の157.94円前後を付けた。その後、160円近くまで戻す場面も見られたが、再び158円台半ばへ急落した。日本政府・日銀が円買い・ドル売りの為替介入を実施し、NY連銀がレートチェックを行ったとの観測が広がった。

The Bank of Japan (BoJ) is scheduled to announce its policy rate decision following today's Monetary Policy Meeting. Having raised its policy rate by 25 basis points at the previous meeting, the BoJ is widely expected to leave the policy rate unchanged at 1.00% this time.
As such, investors will focus less on the rate decision itself and more on the Outlook Report released alongside the decision, as well as Governor Kazuo Ueda’s press conference that follows. Key questions will be whether the BoJ revises its inflation or economic growth forecasts and whether it maintains a willingness to pursue additional rate hikes in the future.
If markets interpret the BoJ's communication as hawkish, the yen is likely to strengthen on expectations of further policy normalization. Conversely, if Governor Ueda strikes a more cautious tone, renewed selling pressure on the yen could emerge.
That said, given yesterday's sharp reversal just below the 160.00 level, market participants remain highly sensitive to the risk of additional yen-buying intervention by the Japanese government. Even if dollar/yen regains the 160 handle, the possibility of official intervention cannot be ruled out, suggesting that price action is likely to remain volatile.
